Random facts:
- Orchids can produce hundreds of thousands of seeds in a single pod. The seeds are so small that they can be bourne of the wind to another tree. A consequence of their small size is that they carry little or no food inside to aid germination and have evolved to rely on surrounding microscopic fungi to help break down surrounding organic matter as they begin their new life.
- Orchids used to be hunted in the wild and brought back to collectors who whould pay vast sums for a new type. These days, this is generally not the case. All of the orchids we provide and all of those you will commonly find for sale have been grown on farms either from seed or often from tissue culture which allows us to enjoy the benefits of the rainforest without causing harm.
